Missions and Ministries

The Monday Prayer is affiliated with a small number of Christian organizations active in mission and ministry, which we have listed below. In most cases, we have participated on a personal, hands-on basis. In all cases, we have relationships of long standing (five years or more).

If you are looking for a worthy charity to invest your time and/or tithes in, we can recommend the following organizations enthusiastically and without reservation:

Pura Vida (www.puravida.org)
Target: Guatemala.
Mission: Education, Health. “The mission of Pura Vida is to facilitate the sharing of First World resources with Third World communities in a meaningful, respectful, and long term way. Our primary focus is on providing educational opportunities for children through scholarships, tutoring, and support of local schools…to attain a standard of living in which their children can thrive.”

The Cornerstone Foundation – La Loma de Luz (www.crstone.org)
Target: Honduras.
Mission: Medical/Health, Education, Evangelism. “The Cornestone Foundation is a non-profit, Christian, charitable organization which built and administers a hospital-based outreach on the north coast of Honduras. The Hospital La Loma de Luz is a full-service medical facility serving as the hub of our related ministries: bilingual school, foster children’s care, agricultural and community development.”

The International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org)
Target: Global.
Mission: Fighting Slavery, especially sex traffic; Release and Rehabilitate former slaves. “IJM seeks to make public justice systems work for victims of abuse and oppression who urgently need the protection of the law. IJM seeks 4 outcomes on behalf of those we serve: 1) Victim Relief, 2) Perpetrator Accountability, 3) Survivor Aftercare, 4) Structural Transformation.”

Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (www.rzim.org)
Target: Global.
Mission: Evangelism; promoting Christian Apologetics and Discipleship. “The primary mission of RZIM is to reach and challenge those who shape the ideas of a culture with the credibility of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Distinctive in its strong evangelistic and apologetic foundation, the ministry of RZIM is intended to touch both the heart and the intellect of the thinkers and influencers of society.”

The C.S. Lewis Institute (www.cslewisinstitute.org)
Target: Global.
Mission: Christian Discipleship and Leadership. “The Institute endeavors to develop disciples who will articulate, defend, and live their faith in Christ in personal and public life.”

The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (frrme.org)
Target: Middle East, especially Iraq.
Mission: Humanitarian Relief, Medical Care, Promoting Reconciliation between different religious groups. “We work in one of the world’s most dangerous countries, convinced that God has not forgotten the people of Iraq. We facilitate the unique and important work of Canon Andrew White, Vicar of St George’s Church – exposed in the heart of Baghdad’s Red Zone.”

The Mission Society (www.themissionsociety.org)
Target: Global.
Mission: Evangelism and Relief. “Our purpose is to awaken and activate God’s people for mission and to provide ways and methods for persons and groups to engage in cross-cultural service.”

Evangelical Environmental Network (www.creationcare.org)
Target: Global.
Mission: “EEN is grounded in the Bible’s teaching on the responsibility of God’s people to “tend the garden” and in a desire to be faithful to Jesus Christ and to follow Him.”
